Leigh Whannell’s Invisible Man reimagined the Universal Monster classic (based on the H. G. Wells novel) as an allegory for domestic violence and became a box office hit in February 2020. The movie earned nearly $145 million on just a $7 million budget but was cut short due to the beginning of the global pandemic. Whannell is back with another modern take on the Universal monster, the Wolf Man. Universal dropped the teaser Friday along with a teaser poster. The film stars Christopher Abbott (Kraven the Hunter) as Larry Talbot/the Wolf Man and Julia Garner (Fantastic Four: First Steps). Jason Blum serves as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions banner, alongside Motel Movies. Check out the teaser below. Plot details are unknown but if it’s anything like the 1941 classic or even the 2010 remake, Talbot gets bitten by a werewolf at some point and becomes one himself. He terrorizes the local townspeople and his own family as he walks between the line of man and monster.

Despite recent changes to the app store to accommodate cloud gaming, Microsoft and Nvidia still don’t have native cloud-gaming apps on iOS. Anyone wishing to play Game Pass via the cloud on their iPhone must use a web app. New submissions to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) reveal Microsoft’s reasons for not yet publishing an app.In a submission from late July (via The Verge), Microsoft claims that Apple’s recent changes to its app guidelines are insufficient for Microsoft to release a native iOS app. Microsoft objects to Apple’s 3.11 guideline, which forbids developers from linking to outside websites for subscriptions, thereby circumventing Apple’s 30% cut on app transactions. It claims that, “The 30% commission fee makes it impossible for Microsoft to effectively monetize its cloud gaming service offering,” because other Apple regulations make it impossible for Microsoft to change subscription fees on iOS. Furthermore, Microsoft claims third-party developers would need to recode their own games to fall under Apple’s rules.Apple countered that other developers have not had similar difficulties with the in-app purchase requirement. It cites Antstream, a retro-gamin…
Update: Following the publishing and removal of George R.R. Martin’s blog post, which is discussed below, HBO responded in a statement to Variety. It reads: “There are few greater fans of George R.R. Martin and his book Fire & Blood than the creative team on House of the Dragon, both in production and at HBO. Commonly, when adapting a book for the screen, with its own format and limitations, the showrunner ultimately is required to make difficult choices about the characters and stories the audience will follow. We believe that Ryan Condal and his team have done an extraordinary job and the millions of fans the series has amassed over the first two seasons will continue to enjoy it.”In a recent blog post, George R.R. Martin voiced serious concerns about the latest season of HBO’s House of the Dragon. The author, who created the Fire & Blood series from which the show is adapted, sharply criticized the decision to exclude the character Maelor, a crucial figure in the book.Martin’s post, which appears to have since been removed, expressed his dissatisfaction with changes introduced in the opening episodes of the second season. He specifically condemned the adaptation…
